In the horror genre, there is a tried and true recipe to creating a truly successful anthology series. First? You need the ability to create stories compelling, but short enough, to catch a watchers attention week by week with no promise of continuity. Second? You either need to scare the hell out of the audience or? Make them laugh until the cry. And Bobcat Goldthwait has proven himself the kind of the later. If you haven’t already started watching truTV’s Misfits & Monsters, do yourself a favor and head over to their website and catch the first few episodes.

Known for his black comedy during his stand up and revered by some horror fans for his film Willow Creek, Bobcat Goldthwait approaches each episode with an always bizarre and sometimes politically motivated sense of humor that is delivered so well you could almost forget each episode is packed with star power (helloooo Mr. Seth Green) and get completely lost in the absurdity of it all. Take for instance the 2nd episode – “Face in the Car Lot” – where an unqualified jack ass is motivated to run for president. Turns out he’s also a werewolf. And eats kids. But nobody cares because? Facts < Perceptions. Sounds familiar? It is, and somehow it still manages to be funny despite the all to real absurdity.

Episodes are released every Wednesday, check it out and be sure to catch it weekly and share your thoughts in the comments below.
